She did not, however, qualify for the 'my dead spouse' photo.

One of the reasons I think timing was crucial, also possibly the death flower helped me, once dead a spouse becomes fiance quite quickly, it's the games way of making a sim available again but also means my dead spouse is no longer true, also stops the goldigger LTW completing when they die ::)

I forgot to turn celebrity back on after the job challenge, was kicking myself about it but I didn't get it working in my test game so chances are it still wouldn't.

Thanks everyone.  In my testing, I did photographs of every single collection, note down the values, then sat down and analyze them for a long time -- I think I spent more time calculating numbers than actually playing the challenge.  With the 250 photos limit, the photo collection multiplier just wasn't large enough to compensate for missing out on several repeat high value photos.

Lifetime Wish -- Swimming in Cash  (use midas touch elixir)
Traits  --  Photographer's eye  (obvious choice)
               Born Salesman  (for consignment store)
               Charismatic  (for making friends)
Brave  (I didn't want my toon to faint everytime they see a ghost)
Loves the Outdoor  (just extra trait I throw in, had nothing else I needed)

LTR  --  Motive Mobile  (for all the needs)
            Suave Seller  (for consignment store)
Steel Bladder  (I just can't stand how fast the bladder bar goes down)
            Prepared Traveller  (I'll explain later)

-1)  I went to chat up 7 best friends, and move them all into the house.  Household now max at 8.
-2)  I started with human (I notice if I start as ghost I don't get the extra appreciation value).  Drown my photographer.
-3)  My 7 best friend would start doing stuff for preparation while waiting on the "oh my ghost" phone call.
-4)  Finally Blair Wainwright got the opp, so she revive my photographer.
-5)  My photographer learn 3 points in photography from book, then kept drinking skill booster / potent skill booster till he max photography.
-6)  Both photography book and Hikon camera bought through consignment store.
-7)  I went and kill off all my other best friends and have Blair revive them as needed for my collections.
-8)  I made sure I have all the consignment store challenges completed before selling any photographs.
-9)  Vacation:
France 1 day  --  for shots of nectary, french market, and lovers in france.
China 1 day  --  for shots of dragon cave, academy, chinese garden, and lovers in china.
Egypt 7 days  --  I use prepared traveller so I could stay here 7 days and get repeat photographs for a few high values ones.

COLLECTIONS  COMPLETED  --  14

Collectables                  --  21 shots  (Ansel Adam shot: Dropa Stone Set)
Paranormal                   --  13 shots
Travel                           --  20 shots
Architectural Buildings  --  11 shots
Supernatural                --  10 shots  (Ansel Adam shot: Fortune Teller)
Around Town                --  13 shots
Oh The Calamity           --  8 shots  (Ansel Adam shot: A Thief)
Still Life                         -- 10 shots
Family and Friends        -- 9 shots  (Ansel Adam shot:  Family Member)
Ambitions                      -- 9 shots  (Ansel Adam shot:  Sculpture Garden)
Nightlife                        -- 10 shots
Generations                  -- 10 shots
Animal Kingdom            -- 10 shots
Pets in Action                -- 8 shots  (Ansel Adam shot:  Death Riding & Pet Cemetary)

Calculations:  14 collections, 162 photographs with 7 Ansel Adam.
250 - 162 =  88 photographs left

I use this 88 photographs to take repeat shots.  Here is the summary for the repeat photographs (value highest to lowest).
Egypt Pyramid                  -- 6
Egypt Abu Simbel            --  6
Serious Ghost Problem   --  21
Egyptian Statue Set       --  21
Egypt Great Sphinx         --  6
Canopic Jar Set              --  19
Mummy Having a Snack  --  9

TIPS:
-- Stayed 7 days in Egypt so I have 6 extra days to take repeats of pyramid, abu simbel, and great sphinx.
-- Serious Ghost Problem shots were super easy when you have 5 ghosts in your household you can control.  I kill off all my best friend and have Blair revive them.  Make sure you unfriend them after, so the photos don't register as friends.
-- Dragon Cave is the highest value shot, however getting repeat photos of dragon cave means losing out days in Egypt.  One repeat dragon cave photo value doesn't outweigh the 3 repeats photo in egypt.
-- Egyptian Statue Set and Canopic Jar Set is in my home lot where I can take repeat photos easily.  I have Blair use transfiguration table for dive well fragments, then construct dive well and do the dive well trick.  Blair dive wells 24/7 until she have all the relics completed.  I found the last canopic jar set 2 days later than the egyptian statue set, thus you see I have 2 less photos of canopic jar set.
-- Mummy photographs, use mummy elixir.
-- When choosing what collections to complete, obvious choice to complete are the ones that contain high value shots (like paranormal, collectables, etc)
-- Also important to choose "short" collection, meaning around 10 photos.  With the 250 photographs limit, it is better to complete the short collection and forgo the large ones (like plants with 24 photos).  This way I have 14 extra leftover for repeat shots.

I've never heard of this trick  ???

I only noted that it went up a lot more than the humans pictures did, maybe I should have checked if it went up even more if they died after starting. Very interesting read Nutella, I wish I had the patience to do all that pre planning it obviously pays off.

I decided to make my sim, Summer Aldridge, a ghost right from the start after a bit of testing showed me that like paintings or sculptures photos go up in value once the photographer dies, well I thought why not just be dead then.
Starting as a ghost does not give you the $930 appreciation value on panorama photos.

The worst pic was Abu Simbel, in my practice run it took her almost a day to float there.
If you use the road (by the pyramid), you can drive your fast car there, take a photo of the pyramid, then turn around 180 degrees and take a photo of abu simbel from far away.  There is no need to get to abu up close for the shot.

the nectary after that first shot would only show up as a hotspot for some reason.
Yes, the nectary is always hotspot after a while.  The very first thing you should do once you reach France is head up to the nectary to take the photo asap before it turns hotspot.

For death on vacation I took Autumn with me to China, she then went for a swim in the market, a rather long swim, thanks to her unlucky trait she didn't drown but she still got me my picture.
For my death on vacation pic, I took a witch along with me.  I have already level the witch abilites to level 5.  When on vacation, have the witch cast many upgrade spells till her magic bar is drain, then have her cast haunting curse on a random person.  This will backfire and kill the witch.

I could not get sculpture garden to register at all no matter how many sculptures I had my sims make, I'd be interested if anybody else got that one working.
Ya I couldn't get mine to register either.  I have like over 10 sculptures and many plants and rocks to simulate the garden effect, still cant' get it.

* It took me a while to realise that if I went to the house of a police officer, I would be able to get the police car, completing that photo collection.
Use your phone, call for service - police officer.  Police will arrive and lecture you on calling the police for no reason, but he/she will always comes in a police car allowing you to take a pic of the car.  Well you will get fine for doing this, but simoleons comes easy in this game.

* I tried to get the police officer and the fire officer by calling for services and then each one. I failed to get the pictures of them, somehow.
This work for me, not sure why it is not registering for you.

Some shots just wouldn't fire for me, that normally do fire, these included:
* celebrity
* one sick sim,
Celebrity photo -- I think the celebrity must be 4 stars and above.  I move in a one star celebrity, level his star level, the celebrity shot only register once he became 4 stars.
One Sick Sim -- have the sim drink "Ad Nauseum" elixir, this will guarantee them to throw up in a few sim hours.

Congratulations Nutella - I think I called 5th place didn't I?

One trick I did was of course use the brain enhancing machines until I was level 10 photography.  I bought a 1200 piece of land and was able to buy 10 of the machines and never once got singed.  After that I went to consignment shops for midas touch, best camera and wish enhancing serum.

I used the philosopher's stone I got from my LTW being granted to bind 5 ghosts to the house.  I had Buster Clavell move in as soon as the game started, turned him into a mummy using an elixir then let him eat jelly beans until his bottom caught on fire then did nothing about it.

I took too many extras of shots that I later found out weren't as high as I thought.  A Serious Ghost problem is the highest value shot in the game not Too Many Ghosts like the coding says.  I only spent one day in France and spent 7 days in China to get 7 shots of the Dragon Cave.  My first shot of the Dragon Cave was worth over ァ11k and the repeats were all worth ァ7k.

I found out that shots taken indoors get a bonus with hates the outdoors and outdoor shots get a bonus to loves the outdoors.  There was also a bonus for innapropriate but I never figured out which shots were considered the inappropriate shots.

I also did a spreadsheet in my research to find out the values of photography from the coding.   You can find it here

For Death on Vacation I had a witch with me catch the yard on fire and I locked all the doors so the paparazzi that was visiting couldn't get out.  Eventually he burned to death.

I had all of my 250 shots taken by Week 2, Day 3 though.

Yes you did! :)

Ahhh university, I didn't buy that xpac while I was working on this challenge.  I have the university now, working on the jobs challenge at the moment.

Hmm I don't know anything about coding, but in my testing the serious ghost problem repeats weren't the highest value.  Dragon cave was $11,002 but repeat was only $5578.  Serious ghost problem was $7114 but repeat was like $3592.  These are value without the death appreciation or consignment store.

I found out that shots taken indoors get a bonus with hates the outdoors and outdoor shots get a bonus to loves the outdoors.  There was also a bonus for innapropriate but I never figured out which shots were considered the inappropriate shots..
Good to know, Ill store this info away until the next photography challenge!

I had all of my 250 shots taken by Week 2, Day 3 though.
With my planning, I finish my 250 shots on Week 4 Day 5 -- let the last few shots appreciate on day 6, then sell them in consignment store.  I left one extra day open (day 7) incase not all the photos sell on day 6.

Dragon Caves are automatically going to be worth more because of the architecture challenge, too.  Dragon Cave was literally the last one of that collection I took and I repeated it several times.

My values were also without the consignment shop.  I didn't consign anything until Week 4, Day 6 and Day 7 and took the photos that didn't sell (there were 2) and sold them immediately before the consignment shop closed.

I had a few shots go horribly wrong too.   As in they didn't register what they said they registered so I had like 5 pictures that were worth less than 70 that could have been used somewhere else.

Wonderful gameplay and strategy, Nutella!
Many congratulations to you for winning and to anyone else for participating. Also, my thanks to all the Moderators for inventing and organizing this great event.

I made a spreadsheet of picture values too. I agonised a long time over which collections, and more precisely, how many collections I wanted to go for. I decided to forego Seasons, Collectibles, Pets in Action and Best In Class. I played without University, so that meant 16 collections. This gave me more or less 25 free slots for repeat pictures.

My photographer - Pho' Shot - was a female genie with the following traits: photographer's eye, loves the outdoors, brave, ambitious and adventurous. She remained a genie and alive throughout the challenge. She changed the adventurous trait for 'born saleswoman' near the end.

She invited Stiles McGraw to move in. He shares her LTW of Swimming in Cash. They fulfilled this easily on day 1 after drinking wish enhancement serum for extra happiness points. He became her husband and, in time, her dead spouse. They adopted a girl who eventually became 'ghostly family'. This daughter adopted a baby before she passed away. The little girl made her imaginary friend real and married him.

Pho' maxed both photography and painting on day 2 of the challenge, partly thanks to skill booster elixirs. At level 10 of the painting skill, each picture taken will increase by $50/day. (At level 7 painting a photo will increase by $35/ day and this will remain so, even if the photographer maxes painting later on.)
Every day she removed newly taken pictures from her camera before midnight. She kept them all in her personal inventory, because pictures sometimes 'disappear' when placed on walls. There was one occurrence, where I forgot to remove the pictures from the camera in time. Pho' had taken quite a few that day, and it constituted a considerable loss of $9500.

Pho' completed the Photog Skill Challenge on day 3. Until that point, she tried to take low value pictures only. After that point, she tried for as many high value shots as possible. She did, however, not shoot any pictures belonging to the 'Architecture and Buildings' or 'Around Town' collections.

That same day Buster and Bessie Clavell moved in. Bessie (logic 7) made an Imaginary Friend Transormation potion and several ghost potions. Buster became a mummy, ate the obligatory snack, and then starved himself. He died two days later and provided 'doubly dead'. The whole event whacked me out.

Stiles became a fairy and learned 'bloom' super quick. By day 6 Pho' had everything for the Plants and Flowers collection but the nectar vines, plum and pomegranate tree. They went to France for a day, so Pho could take the necessary pics. Stiles gained visa level 2 and bought a meloire vine. Pho completed the Architectural Eye Skill Challenge with two pics only: the nectary and the French market. Upon return Stiles bloomed the meloire vine. Pho took the picture and quickly completed 'Around Town'. This meant she had completed the Shutternut Skill Challenge too.

I had big hopes, because Shutternut can boost pictures in several collections by 18% : Architecture and Buildings, Travel (monuments) and Paranormal.

It worked well for Travel. She went to Egypt first and had everything completed but for 'lovers in China' and 'the Dragon Cave'.
She took the latter last and it registered at just over $13,000. The repeats were worth $6,592 instead of $5,578. She also got a very nice boost on the last picture in Architecture and Buildings which was 'a Chinese garden' at $5,567.

Now, in testing, this had worked for Paranormal too. But, in an oversight, I forgot to take 'A Serious Ghost Problem' last to complete the collection. 'Wandering Ghost' got the one time big boost. Fortunately, the repeats of 'A Serious Ghost Problem' still registered at $4,490 as opposed to $3,592.

So what else can I tell you about?

Oh yes... Artie Page!
He had come into the household on the strength of being level 5 in the fortune teller career. He allowed for the 'Fortune Teller' picture at level 6 which was easily done. Pho' took him to Egypt after a midlife crisis whereby he lost the charismatic trait and gained the loser trait. Guess what?
He fought five mummies and did not get cursed once.
I went slightly off the rails after that and felt no regret when he died on vacation after imbibing two 'Age Up' elixirs.
The good thing about Egypt was that Pho' got the Egyptian Statue Set in a matter of hours by using ghost postions in the Abu Simbel.

China proved very slow and I lost an enormous amount of real life time going through the motions. I should have cut the journey short and sent Pho' back to Egypt, much like Nutella did. And this, not only for repeat pictures: Pho' already had 3/4 dangerous creatures and 4/5 canopic jars. Instead, I was silly, and sat it out for repeats of the Dragon Cave.

Pho' had bought the graveyard and by using 'moveobjects on' it was quite easy to get repeats of 'A Serious Ghost Problem'. It worked best, if there was a living Sim in the graveyard. Most of these repeats were taken between 3.00 am and 4.00 am. In my test file, this happened nearly every night. In my official file, it mostly happened every other night, and sometimes it took longer... Pho' started taking daily pictures of the Egyptian Statue Set @ $3,064.
I had grown frustrated and impatient by now.

She reached the maximum of 250 photographes on day 5 of week 3.
I played on full speed from that moment on. But yet again, impatience got the best of me. With all consignment challenges completed, Pho' started selling her pictures on day 4 of week 4... two days too early.

Another stupid thing I did? I had three Ansel Adams Shots left. I should have used these to replace low value pictures with high value repeat pictures.

But hey, I finished in the nick of time, and that is a good thing! :)

Ah, I knew that my pseudo-strategy of "just go collection-crazy and hope for the best" would come back to haunt me. Congrats to Nutella for a very solid performance!

I basically just went to try and get every possible collection, except for Seasons and Collectables (I think). Used my 7 bonus shots for Photo of Photographer, Death Riding, Pet Cemetary, Master Criminal, Political Demo, A Group of Sims (easy, but hardly worth anything) and... something else I can't remember off hand. I did think as to whether I might have been better off not going for all collections, but dismissed the thought too quickly. ;)

Congrats to Nutella! :)

I'm late but posting anyway, just for the sake of sharing. :)
My sim, Allie Boyd, earned 511,100 and completed 12 collections, which gives her a total of 817,760. That was hard. lol Allie lucked out and found a photography book at the local consignment store. Then Allie used the book. brain enhancing machine, and elixirs to get her photography skill up to 10. She didn't take any photos until she was level 10, though, and all the photos she took were classic vignette panoramas. She also got the Suave Seller LTR and sold the photos at the consignment store, which gave her more for them. It took a long time to sell them, though, and the whole family had to work in order to earn enough money to take photos (64 just to take one picture????). It made her a lot of money, but she had a lot of problems, too. The biggest problem was having things register as a Sim Around Town instead of what they were supposed to be. Wandering ghost was really hard too. They kept showing up as just ghost or Autumn leaves or something random behind them. lol It was weird. For the most part, if I couldn't get it to register right, I'd just hit ESC instead of snapping the picture, but sometimes it would show up right, but then when I snapped the picture it wouldn't count as what it was supposed to. Sometimes, it'd just say it was a picture of nothing. Grrr lol So, yeah, I am thoroughly impressed with your scores. Great job, everyone, and thanks for this challenge. It was a lot of fun.

Here's Allie sitting at her desk with her mummified twin sister standing behind her all creepy-like.

Tragic Clown!

Allie and her deceased mummified twin sister, Alana, (for some reason, she looked like this instead of looking like a ghost mummy, but when I had Allie take the picture, it still counted as Doubly Dead):

Wow great job everyone.  I had no idea about death making your photos worth more.  I was so concerned with getting as many collections as I could done when I should have focus a little more on money.  I was able to get all the death shots.  For death on vacation I took a Vampire Sim and made her my enemy.  I killed her by making her stay outside away from camp with no food.  She died by the end of the day due to thirst.  I was able to get Death on Vacation, My Dead Enemy.  I tried to hard to complete Best in Class when I should have left it alone seeing how in the end I need 3 Anzel Adams shot to complete it which I didn't do because I decided to use them elsewhere.

I wasn't able to get A Group of Sims (no matter how hard I tried)
Pets in Action I gave up on because the pets were annoying me so that's how I got Social Worker
Pleading to the Sphinx,  I did something stupid and went there first without the mummy to get SoulPeace Statue so when I took the mummy there it wouldn't register.
A Theif wouldn't spawn for me (probably cause I had 8 sims with me for Best in Class-big mistake)
Oh no Snake wouldn't pop for me I even used the Cobra
Fortune Teller- I thought it would have been easy but couldn't get it
Sculpture Garden wouldn't spawn for me either no matter how many sculptures I had.
Celebrity Sighting I thought I might have needed a high lvl sim and didn't want to lvl one so I used an AA
I didn't mess with Collectables at all.  Crossed it out thinking that if I got all the others I would have 5 pictures to spare.  I should have took more higher priced reshots but I didn't.

I also lvl the sims photography using elixirs and books. Didn't take the first photo until I had the best camera and was lvl 10.  I used the Consignment Shops both actually.  I sold apples and other stuff until Excellent and Week 3 I started with the Photos.  I noticed I could sell more pictures in a day if both Shops were used.

Thanks for a great Challenge. Congrats Nutella! I can't wait to get started on the next one.

I got very lucky with this one, Torgo my amazing pizza delivery guy was awesomely bad with mummies and would always get cursed, I've never had sims get so easily cursed they usually get knocked out, I thought it was luck in my test game then he did it again first time in this one but I had a problem and they couldn't return home from Egypt the loading screen just stalled, Rica let me go back to before I traveled and I felt sure I wouldn't get it a third time but sure enough first mummy he met cursed him  ;D

Were you taking an actual mummy to the Sphinx? from what I understand it has to be somebody cursed by a mummy not a mummy, I thought sleeping in a blessed sarcophagus cures that, a cursed person has a fortnight to plead to the Sphinx or they die.

Maybe that's how I messed up I use the elixir for the mummy I didn't curse him.
