No Gifts at the Gift Giving Party

I got a message saying that there wasn't enough space for the gifts.  Does anybody know what size footprint is needed and how close to the front door it needs to be?

Could the chandelier be the problem?

Perhaps it's your rug inside the door or one of the tables? I had one and it appeared near the door slightly to one side, same door incidentally, roughly where the table is on the right of the picture. It was in the place they always go and stand when entering the house, the go home spot so to speak.

Yes, it could be the rug.  And make sure there are no pet toys around, either.

Yeah, I think it's the rug too.  My present pile appears near the door but there's no rug there.  Once the pile appears, you can go into buy mode and move it - even place it on a rug.  But maybe for it to spawn, it has to be a completely clear bit of floor.

Actually with my gift giving party, there was a a rug on the floor, and the presents appeared right on top of it.

Try moving the dining room table and chairs to another room and see what happens. Or...try placing chairs or a sofa around the room, so the sims will have enough places to sit. Some usually sit on the floor if there is no room, but not all of them can't. Then again there were a couple who simply stood around.

Swirl-Girl, if your go home spot is outside does that mean your front door hasn't been set as the front door?  I think that might help.  If you can't set the door as the front door make sure there aren't any privacy or plumbing objects in the room (toilet, maybe shower).  The game won't let the front door be set on doors that open up to a toilet.

I had this issue before, and I believe having a properly set, working front door was what fixed it.
