Error code when trying to uninstall Pets?
« on: May 15, 2013, 08:51:13 AM »
I have a refurbished computer that I installed the sims3 on, through Origin. I don't believe it installed correctly, as this computer is designed for gaming and the game was having lots of problems. It was loading slow, having graphics errors, and would crash to windows/freeze up the computer. I have uninstalled all of my other expansions, now the only thing on there is the base game and Pets. However, I get the following message when I go to uninstall pets:

An error (-5009 0x80040801) has occured while running the setup.

And then windows explorer crashes, sometimes crashing the whole computer.

I have uninstalled my antivirus (it had installed wrong as well) and tried to find the problem, in the error report it mentions the Windows Vista service pack 1. I am running Windows 7. The disc drive on my computer works, so I was planning to reinstall from discs and then just do my last game (Supernatural) on Origin so I wouldn't need a disc to run it.

I have the base game+ambitions, Late night, World Adventures, Pets, Master Suite, and Supernatural.

Any ideas on what is wrong? I get this error whenever I go to uninstall Pets, and it is really quite annoying. I might call the EA helpdesk later if it keeps up.
