Lighter Colored Special Seed?
« on: April 20, 2013, 07:33:21 PM »
I was sending one of my Sims out to pick up some special seeds, when I noticed that one of the seeds was lighter in color than the rest. Does anyone happen to know what this means?

It's been mentioned that the ones that are more gold in color are money trees but I've never noticed a difference in my game, except the ones that glow red of course.

Well, I did get the message, "Trees are too large to plant in planter bowls." when I tried to plant it, so it probably is a money tree. Unless there are any other trees that come from special seeds.

Money trees are the only trees that come from special seeds.

OMG!  What a terrific way to KNOW if you have a money tree seed or not!  Just try planting it in a planter.  That would also work for, (is it rare seeds?), finding lime tree seeds.  I've often wound up with tons of lime trees I had to get rid of.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Really? What are the ones that glow red?? :)

Well, if it's a lime "tree", you probably get the same message when you try planting it in a planter, I guess.

Do the Sims need to have a certain level of gardening to find such special seeds? I've never found one! But this could also be because I never really look for them, I just occasionally  pick one up when I'm at the park..

Plasma fruit, from Late Night.

It's been a while since I grew a money tree, but when I grew them, the seeds were definitely more golden to me.

I might need to ramp up my settings, because I've never noticed money tree seeds glowing, and to be honest, I was sceptical. However, whilst looking for a pattern file today, I saw a _IMG file named 'seedTex' - it was just a little glowy picture, so it must be true! I can't imagine it would be any other seed.

Did you find another one for plasma fruit or just the one.  Don't forget that plasma fruit glows red.   I never see a money tree "glow".  It's just a different color.

I suspect that that one will be in the late night files. I didn't read all the files - I was skimming for a pattern that I wanted to turn around. Sadly, I skimmed from top to bottom and somehow missed it :( I'll try again tomorrow. I sure wish patterns had EP tags on them!

Another way to know if it is a money tree is that when you go to sell it, it will show the value of $0. If it shows that, then of course you don't sell it.   I think that is all that has a $0 value.  Not sure about the death flower.  The flame and life fruit have a high value, $60 or more for their seeds.
I don't remember what level you have to be at gardening, but it would be over five, it not at seven before you can grow the money tree.

I've never noticed any difference in color of the seeds, I will have to check them out to see if there is a different look to them from other seeds.
