Human can "Probe" another Sim?

My Dynasty Heir, De Arbol, has just graduated from University. Whilst he was there, I noticed that he had the option to "Probe" other Sims - but the option only appeared, greyed out, on Sims that were going to work or home. He has no alien lineage - his grandparents are Jake Coastal and the Rao family from BB (plus my Founder), and his Wife is Juliet Verona, an original BB townie.

When I hovered over the "Probe" option, it said "xxx is going to work". Does anyone know what this means? He is also a Level 5 (I think) nerd.

This happened also to me since UL.  The option appears rarely, when other sims are leaving from a community/residential lot.  The 'Probe' option should be only for the Alien sims, so I think it's a bug...

I've seen this off and on since Seasons released.  Only when a Sim is leaving.   Sims never get the options otherwise.

I've seen it since we got aliens. That's Seasons, right?  Any time my Sim is abducted and returns to his house, I try to talk to the alien, but the only option is the grayed out Probe interaction.  I've never seen it on any other life form.
