I just got the University Life expansion pack, and my Sim keeps getting stuck when she gets back from University. I know there are glitches when you invite people to the graduation ceremony, so I have not invited anyone. She goes to the ceremony, goes back to her dorm and then when the van comes to take her home, she gets stuck in the middle of nowhere by Stoney Falls (once she is back in Sunset Valley).
I have already tried resetSim, exiting the game without saving and restarting (it happened again when she left University), evicting her and moving back into the house again, and switching my active household to a new sim and then switching back. Nothing has worked so far. I can't click on her at all, or even shift-click on her when I do testingcheatsenabled true.
I have a mac, so I don't know if that could have anything to do with this problem, but any sort of insight would be greatly appreciated! I'd rather not lose her, as I just completed the lifetime goal and she has a lot of money.
UPDATE/ANSWER: For those of you who have read or are reading looking for an answer, I found a fix on another forum. I have not been able to find what causes this (it happened with a different Sim I created recently). But once you get back to your main town, there are a few steps you can take to ensure you keep your Sim's university progress and skills, but you will lose all your friends and non-lifetime goals. I felt like it was worth it to lose my friends in order to keep all my game progress.
Step 1: Go to Edit Town (I chose not to save, but I really do not think it matters).
Step 2: Click on your household and save a copy. You can either save just the household members or the actual house as well. I wanted to keep my house since I spent a while building it and I liked it a lot, but you could just save the family and move them into a new house if you wanted to.
Step 3: Exit out of Edit Town mode.
Step 4: Go to the main menu and create a new game file (Again, I did not save at this point).
Step 5: Go to the available households and select your saved copy, and place them in the town. They should become your active household. There were two versions of my household when I did this - I think that the first was automatically created when I initially created my family. I was able to tell the difference by the amount of money available; I think that is the only way you would be able to tell, unless you had members age up, move out, etc.
Step 6: Save under a new name.
This fixed it for me, I was able to resume play, everyone still had all their skills at the levels I had built them up to, they retained all their lifetime rewards, and the Sim in question had her university progress saved.
Hope this helps, I spent a long time waiting and looking for a solution.
