Sims won't return from free vacation opp

I had three Sims (an elder, an adult and a YA, who was the one who got the opp) go on the 'Free Vacation', that comes through via the phone. So, they left and everything was normal. Then, two days later, they came home. Except there was only one person back (the elder). The adult's picture on the left didn't have a grey background anymore but the face had gone from the panel and I can't click on it. And the third person (the YA) still shows up on the panel to be still be on the vacation.

I've tried resetsim. Anything else I could try?

I had the same issue.  The father never returned from vacation no matter how many days passed.  I think the only way I was able to get him back was to either move house using the phone or move the household with the edit town screen.  He did come back, but he lost everything he'd had in his inventory.  My families never accept the free vacation ops anymore.
