Problem Replacing Save Files
« on: July 18, 2010, 08:38:46 AM »
Hi,

I have recently changed computers, from an xp to a windows 7. I saved the game files of sims 3 from my documents to an external hard disk, but now when I copy these game files to the newly installed version of windows 7 i cant see my saved games in the launcher. What do i need to do to retrieve my saved games, over a years worth of gameplay.

please please please help me, i dont have the old computer anymore and so do not have an xp system available.

Thanks

Dean

After copying the files to windows 7, did you put them back into the EA folder?

In the saves folder, I have 2 folders, x.sims3 and x.sims3.backup. I also have a file x.sims3.legacy.

By the way, welcome to the forum.  Sounds like you covered all of the bases.  It is probably something simple that is overlooked, that is always the case.  Someone will probably be on here shortly that can help.  I have those files in my folder too, so it sounds as the right ones are in there.  Not sure if it has anything to do with the OS, it shouldn't, but there again, I am not real technical and would never advise someone to do something if I was not sure.

Thanks, just to know, does there need to be anything in the currentgame.sims folder??? If so, which type of file or folder do I need to put there? I'm clutching at straws here really.

Btw if anyone uses skype, you can find me under the name of deanflexen, might be an easier way to communicate. Thanks and if I find out anything I'll post it here.

Like I said, I am sure it is fixable and someone might be able to help.  This thread that we are on now has saved my game a few times, so you might want to go back through it again to make sure you didn't miss something.
