Help with updating

Just something useful I found out. If you can't seem to get your sim launcher to activate because it says you need to update it before you can play, but the launcher will not let you update, you need to unistall, then reinstall all Sim games. I hope this saves everyone else some time. (I got stuck for around a month)

Did this happen after installing an patch?  I had this problem after installing the latest patch and I fixed it by using the launcher from my original base game folder, not the new ambitions folder.

I know at one time, I didn't want to update yet and I just clicked cancel and I went ahead and played the game.  Maybe that has changed now.  Instead of uninstalling the game, couldn't you just uninstall the launcher and reinstall it.  I did have done that before when an update got stuck and then it let me update.  Of course that was before Ambitions.  Just was wondering.  I have never uninstalled my game before and I am not sure if I want to.
