Sims can't sleep :(
« on: March 29, 2013, 12:33:45 AM »
Hi all,

I'm playing my game for a couple of hrs, everything is going  well, then all of a sudden when its the end of the day and time for sleep and everyone in the household's  energy bar is very low no one is going to bed, then it goes to complete red and sleeping isn't even an option anymore.  Its grayed out on all the beds and also napping is grayed out on couches, non clickable.    If I do get the bed to come up on the screeen then it disappears right away.  Everyone is walking around exhausted and they keep making coffee and drinking it which is weird.  I'm getting worried because I don't want to lose everything and I'm not sure how to reset the sim or the game or go back to an earlier save.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks so much. :)

Take away the coffee maker. They can't sleep during a caffeine buzz.  Also, hover over the grayed out option and it will tell you why you can't select it.

Pam's probably got it right, but another solution you could try is to delete the beds and replace them.  It's possible the bed ownership has gone strange on them.

If I remember right you're playing with the latest patch but not the latest expansion - when I was doing the same I had trouble with setting and unsetting bed ownership.  I'd recommend not setting it at all, and using door locking if you want to keep certain sims out of certain beds.  I might be recalling it wrong, but I think when my roommate joined the family and I kicked him out then invited him back in as a roommate again, he couldn't sleep in his old bed because it was assigned to the old version of him.  The university features are a bit quirky without university, as you've noticed!

And if you do need or want to reset a sim, hit ctrl+shift+c, type resetsim firstname lastname, then hit enter.  So it'd look like:

Also - what does it say when it's grayed out?  That should always give some indication of why the action is not available.
