Question about raising children and relationships
« on: March 31, 2013, 02:59:06 PM »
Hi all,

I've been reading up on raising children and it seems like a heck of alot of work and time but I don't mean to be funny or anything but is there an option to have a nanny or babysitter to take care of the kids when my sim might want to work part time or have time to do projects and opportunities and all the fun stuff? Or should the sim just focus on the baby, will it leave any time at all to do anything else?  I don't have any of the expansion packs at all so just wondering if a nanny or babysitter is available at all as an option.

Also do you need to have any expansion packs at all in order for same gender sims to have the propose marriage option or does the furthest it go will be either boyfriend or girlfriend status, not husband or wife? Just curious about that.  There might be other people on here interested in knowing that.

Thanks for your help. :)

You can hire a babysitter by using the call for services option on your phone. If all your adult sims leave the lot and the baby is still there the game will automatically ask if you want one called as well. They're not really all that good though. If you want a nanny you could ask a sim to move in so that they're there for baby care, but you can't hire one.

And no, you shouldn't need any expansion packs to have same gender sims get married. As long as you've got the box that says the other sim finds yours extremely irresistible and you're already at the boyfriend or girlfriend status, you should be able to propose marriage to any sim. I think the only thing same-gender couples can't do is have kids together, but I could be wrong.

No, same gender couples can not have children without mods. But they can marry.

There is a way, but it is cheaty.

1. Ctrl+Shift+C.
2. Type "testingcheatsenabled true".
3. Shift-Click on one of your Sims.
4. Select "Edit in CAS".
5. Swap their gender.
6. Exit CAS.
7. Have them try for baby.
8. When the baby is born, repeat Steps 3 - 6, swapping the gender back to original.

I read this on the forum somewhere, but I can't remember the exact topic.

You can adopt babies, maybe the same sex couples could adopt a baby. Good luck :)
