Odd Report Writing Problem for Super Spy
« on: March 17, 2013, 04:36:07 PM »
Hi all, I'm new here.  I've been lurking and looking around awhile, and I've found this site to be a great resource!

I've been playing my active household in Bridgeport for a very long time, and one of my guys is level 10 in law enforcement.  Error code 12 finally forced me to transport the household to a fresh town (still Bridgeport).  But now all of a sudden, no matter how many reports the super spy writes, I can't get his "reports" performance to reach the top level (green grinning face).  It's very difficult to even reach neutral and constantly drops back down to bad.

He's been writing an average of three reports a day for four weeks, which means he hasn't been doing much of anything else, and it's getting depressing.  It wasn't like this in my old version of the town, so I'm wondering if it's some sort of glitch due to relocating (or perhaps the newest patch, since they occurred around the same time).  Just now he was one step below top performance, and as soon as he finished writing his third report of the day, it dropped down to neutral.

Is anyone else having this problem?  On average how often do you guys need to write reports to keep the performance status high?

He still gets plenty of raises, and the family is already rich.  I know I can just ignore the problem if it persists, but I just *hate* seeing that frowning face when he's working his butt off and lost so much time. :(

No one here has any experience writing reports?  Okay. :(

It does seem that I'm dealing with a glitch, fyi.  I caught the performance icon resetting to bad at random.  I'll keep searching for answers elsewhere.  I saw a few other people mention this problem on the EA Sims forum, but no solution.

Hello frye.  Welcome to the forum!

I'm sorry that no one has responded to you thus far.  I myself have never experienced this happening and I've had quite a few Super Spys.   Does it happen in more than one file or just this one?  Have you cleared your caches recently plus everything in DCbackup but the ccmerged. file?    If you did a factory reset (as mentioned on the technical help forum), does he still do it then?

Also - this seems to be in the wrong place.  I'm going to move it over to the Miscellaneous Help where hopefully someone else will have more questions or answers for you.

Thanks for the reply.  I clear all my caches every time I play.  I don't typically delete the DCbackup files because they get used.  But I did a full uninstall and reinstall as a test and still had the problem.  He wrote four reports on Tuesday and four reports on Wednesday and got up to excellent, and right at the end of work on Thursday, his reports got reset to bad.  I tested sending him on vacation and also having him quit and rejoin his job.  Neither worked.

I don't have any other saved households with law enforcement sims where I can test, but this guy used to be fine in his previous saved town, and my old Star News Anchor in Sunset Valley had no problem writing stories and reviews.  The news anchor also had to be relocated to a new town once, and he was still fine after.  But that was before the newest patch, and not in glitchy Bridgeport.  I haven't tested him since, but I've been testing this issue for ages, so I need a break.

I'm going to give up on this since it doesn't look like anyone else can help.  This is the other thread I mentioned that brought up this issue.

But you didn't make a new Sim and have them level up?   DCBackup files don't actually get used by the way.  They're as disposable as the caches you clear every day.  Only the ccmerged file is the one that has to be kept.  I've managed to get over 4000 package files in my DCBackup and it can really bog the game down.

If you aren't willing to start a new Sim then I'm afraid it's that Sim that is the issue.    Did you try moving him again?  He could be corrupted.
