What do these symbols mean?

Just started playing sims and i was wondering what the image below means.



I get this when i hove over with my mouse over a sim.

Those symbols are for the new social groups.  The purple is the rebel group and the background is purple because that Sim has a higher standing with them than the other two which are jocks(orange) and nerds(green).  These came with University Life and you shouldn't have gotten a pop up talking about it when you got the game.


Also I'm moving this to Miscellaneous help.

I had sims 3 and got recently some new expansion packs which I have never played before. I couldn't figure out from what expansion it came..
