Problem with Game Updates

Okay, so I'm just finally trying to download something from the Exchange on the official Sims 3 site. However, most of the stuff I saw had this "please update your game" requirement. So I go to my launcher. However, as it opens, it tells me it's "unable to connect to the EA Download Manager". Could anyone tell me what this is and how to fix it? Thanks.

When was the last time you updated Origin?

I'm not even sure I have Origin. I didn't know we needed it  :-\ if I did accidently uninstall it without realizing the mistake, how could I get it back??

Just go to Origin.com and redownload the client.

Don't forget to try manually patching too by downloading one.  I recommend the SuperPatch that is linked in the 1.50 thread.

When I go to the exchange and look at something I always seen the "please update your game" message even tho my game is updated. I just ignore it and and go on with the download.
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.
