Game Speed.
« on: March 08, 2013, 07:55:48 AM »
Hey guys! I've done what Pam has stated in a previous post with moving the screen shots and deleting the revelant folders, and I'm STILL having issues with the game speed/lagging! It did however speed up the loading time from 20 minutes to 10 minutes. I'm literally at my wits end with it. My laptop is fine, its a brand new one with 1TB of memory and runs fast with everything else. However this game, the more I play on it, the worse it gets.

Does anyone have any idea on how to resolve this? Its becoming increasingly impossible to play this game due to the constant stopping and starting.

Thanks in advance :)

Welcome to the forum! Does it do this with every game file?   Have you tried the blanket "resetSim *" that resets the whole town.  It could be you have someone having a routing issue all the time.

What town are you playing in?  There are some towns that have never ending routing issues and it will only get worse the longer you play in it.

Also -  I removed the post you put in the other thread because we don't allow duplicate posts.  It makes the forum untidy.  This way all answers will be in one location for you.

It lags on the other game files too, but not as bad as this game. I'm playing in starlight shores I believe. If I "resetSim *" will it delete my sim. I'm new to all of this you see. What do you mean by routing?

UPDATE: Just did the "resetSim *" and it's working perfectly again. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU :D Any tips on preventing this from happening again?

It depends on what town you're in if it will keep happening.   Routing issues are when a Sim tries to go from one spot to another and can't get there because they have become stuck somewhere or the path in the game won't allow them to do it for whatever reason.

All resetSim does is reset one sim if you  name them or the whole town if you use the * .   This will make everyone reset and most times send everyone to their homes so they will stop trying to go anywhere.

I have just reduced my load time from 15 min down to 2-3 and got rid of the lagginess and jumpiness I was experiencing while playing.  I would suggest trying a process monitor to find out if there is anything causing your lag.  For me it did the trick.

Also, if you haven't already, clear some cache.  Not sure if you've tried clearing the DCBackup folder.  It helps some people.

Also, if you have a lot of custom content that can slow you down.  I suggest reading about the best ways to install CC.  For me, it's changing it to package files then compressing those files.  My game seems to run faster that way.

Hope this helps!
