Can't move out

Since the patch, when I try to move a Sim out of my household, I get stuck on "Processing" forever - I have to close the game using the task manager.  Has anybody else experienced this?

Hi Simone23,

I think if I remember correctly I had this happen the other day, in my game while I was playing my gardening game. My Sim people had glitched - wouldn't harvest/tend but one plant.

I was done with the particular lot at the time anyway, so I thought I'd have them move. They couldn't use the phone to move. I thought maybe it was just the Sim person's phone. So I placed a phone on the wall, and had another Sim person try to use the phone to move and that didn't work either.

I just ended up clicking out to edit town, and clicked evict family. Deleted them, as I had them saved them back previously. And then saved the lot.

I don't know if any of this will help you, but just wanted you to know you're not alone.

Thanks MrsFlynn - I've been googling like mad and finally found a workaround:

• (optional, but recommended) Take everything out of the refrigerator and put it in a sim's personal inventory (not the sim you're kicking out!)
• Take the sims you want to move out to a community lot
• Edit Town, switch active households to one with enough room for the sims you want moved out
• Turn on testing cheats enabled
• Ctrl+shift+click on the sim whose residence you want to change and choose "Add to Active Household". Repeat for all the sims you want out.
• You should now be able to move the sim out of their new house using the phone, or you can go back to edit town and split the new household. Change your active household back to your normally scheduled programming.

This worked very successfully for me.  I haven't tried moving anybody else out of or into the house, so I have no idea whether or not this fixed the problem permanently (there's got to be a loop somewhere in the code and a variable that's being set improperly...). But at least this worked well enough to give my family some breathing (and breeding...) space.
