Editing Appaloosa Plains?
« on: March 06, 2013, 08:26:17 PM »
Hi, I'm *trying* to edit Appaloosa Plains and have come into a problem. I want to add a single hospital, a single school, stadium, and science facility. I tried first with the sadium and edited a lot for it, but I can't designate the lot for the stadium! The option isn't there and I can't place the stadium otherwise. Is it even possible to place these community lots on single plots of land? I'm trying to get away from combined rabbitholes because of the bug. Thanks!

If you use the large lot, you can designate it 'no visitors allowed'. Then you place whatever rabbitholes that you can fit using MOO. There is a list somewhere with all the sizes of the different rabbitholes, so you can have a look and choose which ones fit best. They may overhang the lot, but they will still work. Alternatively, you can place them in a basement, and just place some stairs down to them.

See, that's just it. I had a 64x64 lot that I made a community lot and tried to place a stadium there that I got from Sunset Valley which is also 64x64. I tried both visitors allowed and not allowed and I could not place the stadium! :(  other than visitors allowed or not allowed, hospital, stadium, school, and science facility are not among the list to choose for lot type.

Edit: I'm not exactly sure what happened before, but I noticed that the icon hadn't changed so I took the bulldozer to it and then it changed! I'm wondering if somehow, two lots got placed on top of each other. I don't know. I just placed the stadium. Now I have to try to create some odd sized lots for the other community lots.

Ok, what you need to do, is start with an empty community 'no visitors allowed' lot. There is no lot designation for rabbitholes. Then, go into build mode. There is an icon for 'community objects'. Under the 'buildings' tab will be all the rabbitholes, including the stadium, hospital, science lab and school. You will need to use the cheat 'move objects on' to place them, especially if they are too large to all fit, or if the ground is uneven. Place the rabbitholes that you want on the lot, and decorate it how you like with pavers, plants, tables etc. Now you will have your own custom lot with the individual rabbit hole/s as well as the combined ones.

I've a question about that.

Could I take a lot such as that, the 64 x 64  (or other) and from the community buildings in build mode have more than one buildings on it?  I thought you could have just one on that lot.
I would love to have one where I could get larger community lots from a town and add the theater and the Bistro together, or put the bookstore, grocery and elixer shop beside each other.  Place the pool, gym and spa beside each other.

There are towns which have several rabbit holes on the same lot -- independent, separate rabbit holes as opposed to the buildings which combine the functions of two or more rabbit holes (like the school/stadium or city hall/military/police in Appaloosa Plains). Twinbrook has the supermarket together with the bookstore, while Sunset Valley has supermarket, bookstore and theater on one lot. It wouldn't work with non-rabbit hole lots, as far as I know, because a lot can't be flagged as say gym and pool at the same time, it has to be one or the other. That doesn't mean you can't have a pool in your gym or fitness items at your pool, though.
