Guide to Majors

Since the 1.50 patch includes a lot of stuff from the upcoming University Life expansion pack, we have some new information about what the majors will be like.  All of the information below was taken from the new files that the 1.50 patch installed.  There's a recommended trait for each major; I've underlined the trait in the "beneficial traits" list that's especially recommended. (This isn't my judgement; again, this is directly from the file.)


Major:  Business
Required Credit Hours:  8
Cost Per Credit:  625
Beneficial Traits:  Ambitious, Genius, Workaholic, Burglar, Charismatic, Evil, Frugal, Mooch, Perceptive
Detrimental Traits:  Absent Minded, Loser
Skills That Grant XP:  Charisma,0.01; SocialNetworking,0.001
Associated Occupations:  Business, Criminal

Major:  Technology
Required Credit Hours:  8
Cost Per Credit:  600
Beneficial Traits:  Ambitious, Genius, Workaholic, Brave, Daredevil, Handy
Detrimental Traits:  AbsentMinded, Coward, Loser
Skills That Grant XP:  Handiness,0.001; Logic,0.0083; Inventing,0.0083
Associated Occupations:  Law Enforcement, Military

Major:  Science
Required Credit Hours:  8
Cost Per Credit:  575
Beneficial Traits:  Ambitious, Workaholic, Genius, Angler, Green Thumb, Gatherer Trait
Detrimental Traits:  Absen tMinded, Loser
Skills That Grant XP:  Fishing,0.01; Gardening,0.016; Science,0.005; Spellcraft,0.005
Associated Occupations:  Medical, Science

Major:  Fine Arts
Required Credit Hours:  8
Cost Per Credit:  550
Beneficial Traits:  Ambitious, Genius, Workaholic, Artistic, Natural Cook, Savvy Sculptor, Xfactor, Natural Born Performer, Avant Garde
Detrimental Traits:  AbsentMinded, Can't Stand Art, Loser

Skills That Grant XP:  Writing,0.005; Photography,0.025
Associated Occupations:  Journalism, Political, FortuneTeller

Major:  Phys Ed
Required Credit Hours:  8
Cost Per Credit:  500
Beneficial Traits:  Ambitious, Workaholic, Genius, Athletic, Daredevil, Disciplined
Detrimental Traits:  AbsentMinded, Clumsy, Loser, CouchPotato
Skills That Grant XP:  Athletic,0.005; MartialArts,0.007; Riding,0.025
Associated Occupations:  Professional Sports


Of course, we'll be able to mod these if we wish; I might add "Virtuoso" to the Fine Arts beneficial traits and "Charismatic" to the Communications beneficial traits, for example.

Thank you for this! This is really cool. It looks like you don't want to send your Absent-Minded Losers to university, looks like they're doomed not to do well.

It looks like you don't want to send your Absent-Minded Losers to university, looks like they're doomed not to do well.

Heh.  Yeah, it does look as if getting an absent-minded loser through University will be challenging. :-)  I'm sure someone can make a contest or something out of it. ;)
