Chess table problem
« on: February 09, 2013, 06:56:40 PM »
Hi I have a chess table that does not seem to be working, I put it indoors or outdoors and with chairs but the option to play chess is always grayed out. Makes me really confused because my sim can play chess in the park and in the computer fine. Is this a glitch or I am missing out on some things?

Have you placed the chairs on the correct sides? The chairs have to be on the same sides that the chess pieces are on.

Yes, I tried it with different sides. I even tried it with different chairs and indoors or outdoors, but no luck.

Also, make sure your chairs are close enough to the table to reach it. This may sound simple enough to do, but even the developers seem to miss this one sometimes. Eerie Park in Moonlight Falls has a chess table and players have to edit the park to move the chairs closer so that you can use the chess table there.

Another thing is the type of chair. I think you have to select one from the dining chair category. I had trouble when I tried to use two of the lounge chairs.

I always check to see if chairs are attached  by (in buy mode) picking up the table and trying to move it.  If the chairs move with the table, they are attached.

When I mouse over the chess table in my game and the options are gray, it always tells me why the option is gray.  Did you try to find out what it says?

No, it doesn't and the chairs are not attached. I'll try it again. ;)

Just in case it's still a problem, my game lets me put a chess table too close to another object to use.  It lets me place it, but then the sims can't use it.  Moving the chess table away from the other object by half a tile or more does the trick there.
