Since there are many threads about saving problems, I thought it might be best to give this tip its own topic. Hopefully it will also get noticed better this way.
I have had error 12 numerous times, especially in the beautiful forum world Union Cove. Probably because of the full world, high detail in all buildings and many sims. Just what everyone wants, except for the saving difficulty then
I found out that it is
a lot easier and faster to save when my sims are on a vacation. For instance in France my game saves within a few minutes, while in UC itself it takes 10 minutes or more with a big chance of the annoying error 12 (and then I think, did I just wait for
that...?).
So, if you have problems saving the game, try to go on a holiday and save there!
