How close can plants be to each other?
« on: January 22, 2013, 03:47:50 PM »
Since I had to reinstall my games I have lost my community gardens.  I got an idea from reading another post about creating my garden in a maze or spiral type, but am wondering, how close can I get the plants and leave enough room to walk and gather them?

Can they be touching each other or do I have to have a square between them?
The plants are going to line the path, so I am going with the need it two squares wide so sims can pass each other.  But, what about the plants, can they touch each other?
Before I have always let the plants rim three sides on the edges, at one open coner I put a pond with lounge chairs and benches, and at other corner a bar with talbes and chairs to sit.  Enough room between for families to play catch, sims to move around, or a fountain with benches around it.  Whatever hits my fancy when I am making the garden.

I am bouncing around right now what I want in the center; a pond or fountain, an area with a bar some tables and chairs, something else - not sure yet.  Not sure where I want a bar with tables and chairs, a shaded area with benches to sit and read.   Either way, maze or spiral, I want plants to line the walkway, so how close can they be to each other?

Plants are perfectly happy in contact with each other. I sometime plant gardens two lines deep with no trouble. Something along these lines :
Code: [Select]
XXXXX
XXXXX

XXXXX
XXXXX

As long as there is an open space next to the plant, it will be accessible for gardening.
