Expansion cds

As you can probably tell I'm new to the world is Sims, a Sims virgin if you like.
Anyway I am now obsessed with it, taking over my life lol.

I'm looking at getti g an expansion cd, seasons or late night, so my question is this,
When they are loaded do they work with the game I'm playing, will I be able to use the same
Sims I already have, the house etc I've set up. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, nothing will change in your current game so all the saves will still be there

I'll add my welcome,

Nothing will change, so you can continue and enjoy.  Other expansion packs may add changes, but not effect games.  Adding Pets for example will have them show up in games you are playing now, but not hurt them any.  Strays will show up at your door, horses, deer and other wild critters will show up some (racoons will turn over trash can), but it won't affects how the game runs in that you have to change anything.  Unless you want to add a pet to a present game, then you will need to get food, bedding, toys and such, just like in real life.

Also note that the game's loading screen always shows the loading screen of the most recently released expansion pack you have installed (which throws some people for a loop).
