Patch install problem

Hey Everyone,

So, I went to play my game this morning and when the Launcher started up a text box claiming a Software Update was available and would I like to install it? So I said 'yes'.

Only, after it had downloaded and it went to the setup process another text box came up saying:

"The setup has detected that the installed game region for this update is incorrect. This update requires a different game region in order to be installed".

There's no option to choose a region before the download starts. I'm in Australia. The update tab of the launcher says my game is up to date ... am I going to be missing out on an important patch here? (I figure it's a patch because the word 'patch' was in the file name being downloaded).

I'm about to play the game without installing it ... I'm hoping it will play and that no problems will occur but will certainly note them down here if there are.

ADD: I clicked 'cancel' this time around and the launcher no longer said my game was up to date. Instead, in its place was the following file name:

Sims3_1.47.6.020001_from_1.42.130.019001.exe

But it won't install so what do I do?

I don't know about fixing the problem, but my sister had this same problem yesterday. It turns out the disc was from India, and we are in the UK. It had worked before yesterday so it might be worth checking that your disc is actually from your region, as the patch seems to be what has changed it.

You might try to download and install the patch manually. I have to do that every time. Patching with the launcher never works for me. You can download it here if you want to try that.
Scroll down and they have the patch for several regions. Or try the Super Patch that works for all regions.
