Neashaleigh - I loved the outside of yours, the shape and layout were brilliant, but I thought the inside was a bit bright and lacking in textures.  :)

Snuffles - loved yours! I put a tree inside one of my builds once too, it's the best idea ever! Maybe it could do with some more landscaping around the outside?  :)

Gogowars - yours was my absolute favourite! No idea how you could improve!

Open for comments on mine too.

Well done to Decima, Chuckles and all the other entrants! The amount of entries was testament to what a brilliant building contest idea this was. I don't know how I managed to decide on just three entries to vote for. There were some creative, genius ideas. Comments are welcome on my entry  :)

@Chuckles - I don't think the colours clashed, in my opinion it added authenticity and made the house look like it really was made from recycled, natural material.
Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.

This was a fun contest and it was great to have so many participants. Voting was very difficult because there were so many different interpretations of what an eco-friendly sim would want.

I had to think long and hard before coming up with something that was even halfway original. I'd love some comments on my build, and especially on my garden/landscaping since that was some of my favorite parts of my build.

@Chuckles - Your house was awesome and I knew straight away that it would get hight scores. I don't know how you manage to create so much warmth in a room with so simple measures. I also particularly liked the bit about using the bike as a alternative power source.

@Decima - You're tree houses were a dream. I especially loved the landscaping and the feeling of a secret hiding place in an enchanted forest I got from the house. The color scheme was also well thought out. I', always afraid that dark green and dark brown together will become too dark, but in this house they worked perfectly together.

@Gogowars - I was sooo close to building a futuristic eco house, and then saw yours and chickened out. I think your build is amazing. The Chocolate exterior works great with the landscaping and on the inside the house is a breath of fresh air. I think the water tank was especially inspired!

@Snufflexx - I think your idea of building a house around a growing tree was fun. My one question is :does it give you the unfinnished room moodlet? My two favorite things about your house was the large deck with natural shade and the kids room (it was just too cute).

@Neashaleigh - Your house had some great lines. I loved how the house was placed on pillars and the grass covering the roof. I also thought the rooftop garden was a great way to put the planters to use.

@NearlyWitches - I loved your eco-room with hanger for recycled clothes. I also loved the garden flower/sculpture thing it was interesting. I was a little confused with the lay out, but like that you tried something different. The kitchen looks great. Is any of the counters free for cooking?

This was definitely a challenge, especially as my first building contest! It's hard working with a budget.

With this contest I realized how important the outside and landscaping was. It was definitely difficult to get those ideas down, especially roofs! I am terrible with roofs. I never thought such complex roofs were possible in sims, until I saw these entries. I knew I was toast.

I am definitely open to feedback and suggestions.

I'm also open for feedback on my build.

I'll try and come up with coherent feedback in the next couple days. (My nooboo was sick for a week which equals severe lack of sleep which equals severe decrease in brain function. Almost rested again though.)

Jaaaaks - Your landscaping was great! If you want to improve your votes, try taking pictures in live mode instead of build mode, it gets rid of the placement thingy grid and makes it look more 'real'. When I started doing this I got loads more votes.  :D

Lilygirl - I thought your build was lovely!

Congrats to Chuckles and Decima!  The builds were both incredible!  There were so many amazing entries this time around - I wonder if this was one of the most entered contests yet.  I'm a bit late to the party, but any comments on my build are always appreciated.   :)

Chuckles_82:  I adored your build the minute I saw it.  It followed so many eco-friendly principles, and I loved the creative use of items to make something new (like using a light to act as a rod for the bike!).  Also I'm a huge fan of small lots, and building the house on a small lot made a lot of sense for this contest.

Gogowars329:  Your house is one of the builds that makes me go "Wow!" followed closely by "How?"  ;)  There's some great building ideas and techniques you've put to amazing use.  It's such a well built, well designed, well arranged, and well decorated home.  Amazing stuff!

Snufflesxx:  Trees in the house is such a clever idea!  I also liked your creative use of patterns around the house.  You showed me patterns I didn't know were in the game!  Like Saltpastillen, I'm curious if the main floor counts as closed/finished.  Since installing Seasons I've found out it makes a big difference if a room isn't "roofed" - one of my test builds resulted in my sims soaked and carrying umbrellas around the kitchen whenever it rained outside!

Neishaleigh: Your build had such great shapes to it, and I love the clever way you created a mid-room kitchen/counter space.  I also adore the headboard in the master bedroom.  I'm still trying to figure out where to find those bubble columns!  The house is such a modern take on eco-chic.

Decima: You came up with such a creative build!  I'm impressed with the techniques you used and how well you spaced and landscaped the full lot.  It's obvious a lot of work went into it (and I'm going to guess it was also a lot of fun, judging by the final product).

NearlyWitches:  Your house was so charming to tour in game, there's a lot of great decor in it!  I really liked the creative shapes in the garden - it's very inspirational.  My only complaint is the master bedroom wasn't large enough to use the double bed for two sims.  How often I wish they were smart enough to shuffle over a space on the bed!

Jaaaaks: I downloaded your build to see it in game, and the photos just didn't do it justice!  It was a sweet little bungalow with a lot of great touches.  I particularly liked the arrangment and styling of the office.  This thread has great tips on how to take screenshots, and helped me a lot.

Lilygirl:  Great use of the lot!  The use of elevation and placement of the outdoor rooms works really well.  It's a very unique and detailed build.  I esecially liked the clever touch of the earth floors (green) and sky ceilings (blue).  The only suggestion I might make is to colour the inside of the arches to match the inner wall colours, since the dark wood stood out from the pale bricks to my eye.

Saltpastillen:  I sometimes buy magazines aimed at "people who live in the city but wished they lived in the country," for lack of a better description.  Inside there is always The Old Farmhouse, usually updated to be environmentally friendly, but with all of the vintage charm intact.  When I saw your build it was like you'd chosen one of the houses from that magazine and transported it into the Sims!  Since I'm the type who buys those magazines and drools over those houses, your build has great appeal to me.  ;)  I'm sure it will find its way into most of the neighbourhoods I play from now on!  Great work!

Ladybug:  I love the shape of your house, and the great recolours of the furniture/patterns.  The house looked like a modern home converted to be more eco-friendly, which I think is what you were aiming for.  It looks very liveable.  The only suggestion I could make is to maybe vary the yard a bit more, perhaps break up the garden to create mini-gardens or play with the elevations a little to add variety.  Really great build!

Thank you so much for all if your kind and helpful critiques!

I always don't think about taking screenshots in live mode. I will definitely do that from now on. And thanks Vinyl for that link, I'll surely take a look at that before uploading my next entry.

I'm afraid I'm not the best at offering any critique to any of the houses. They were all lovely and all I really have to say is praise. It was definitely a good way to get some inspiration!
