Sim Genetics?
« on: January 13, 2013, 11:08:34 AM »
I was playing around with a single Sim having children with one man from all of the different countries. Things were going along swimmingly, with the kids only showing combinations of parental traits, following what I've read around about Sim genetics in TS3. But my Sim, Lilia, had a final set of twins with Jean Luc Beaumont of Champs Les Sims, who is dark haired. One twin, Laudine, came out "normally," that is to say, she had mom's pink hair and eye color, and dad's facial features and skin coloring. The other, Lunette, came out.... white-blonde. Everything else with her is normal, just that hair color threw me off and made me wonder if there is, indeed an actual past genetic code type thing that can skip generations and the like like there was in TS2?
Just curious!

Routing issues? What routing issues? I just move things around until I can get my Sim where I want her.

Does Jean Luc and/or Lilia have any blonde ancestors? Characteristics can skip generations, like in real life. If either of them have a blonde parent or something like that, that could have been how Lunette was blonde.

On the other hand, it could simply have been random. Every so often, a Sim may "inherit" a hair color, eye color, et cetera when none of their relatives have it. It doesn't happen all that often, but it does occasionally.

Some time ago I had a couple with fairly dark complexions.  One had black hair and very dark brown eyes, the other very dark brown hair and very green eyes.  Created in CAS, they had no ancestors.  Their first, and only child was, fair blond and blue eyed.  She looked so inconcogerous that I stopped playing the family and have long since deleted that file.  Go figure, I couldn't make out how that could have happened.

I have been playing an old file, where Sam Sekemoto had fathered a few children.  His eyes have passed down to the fourth generation, coming up on five.   I have even noticed the eyes in other family members as well.  I have a few screenshots of some of the kids and adults.  I thought the eyes would stop showing up around the second generation or so. :)

When I started my townie dynasty in Riverview I had five kids with Hannah and Aiden Jones and all five had Hannah's deceased mothers black white streaky hair, next gen had it as well, his father was Travis McDermott and gen 3 got Travis's blonde hair but purple eyes, I have no idea where they came from as no Jones, Remington or McDermott had them and her mother while being an sp immigrant didn't have them either.

But I do often see that eye colour on the story progression immigrants so maybe it's a recessive gene they all carry as they are virtual clones.

In my Baby Boomers file, the husband is a redhead, and the wife has blue-black hair.

Their second child has blonde hair. It's hilarious.
