Reinstall Base Game after Bad File Recovery problem

I just recovered bad files when my game crashed. I was able to recover my lost town, but the game crashed again . When I opened the game again it said, "Unable to start. Please reinstall the base game."  What??? I have almost all the EPs, do I need to reinstall them too? What happened to my Sim families? We're they erased? Yes, I do have backup games, but this is frightening! First time it happened to me. I was playing seasons. What happened? Should I reinstall all the games? Help!!!

First thing to do - go to My Documents - Electronic Arts - Sims - Saves and back that folder up! That contains your save games.

Then try restarting your computer, to see if that solves it. If it doesn't, then I'd recommend reinstalling everything. You'll have backed up your saves, so even if they end up getting deleted in the reinstall process you'll be able to keep them.
