Supernatural expansion pack question

hey everyone, i'm very new at all this new "expansion packs" so my question is,
do you buy the sims 3 for pc first in order to play "Supernatural" for pc? which is what i want to play in the first place.
or can i just buy the supernatural game? im not sure if there's a thread about this already, sorry =/

You have to buy The Sims 3 first. Supernatural is an expansion pack, which means it expands on the game. If you don't have the base game, you can't install Supernatural.
