OH MY seems like it's going to be a long night!!!!!
When you say trash-do you mean just grab the folder and dump it into the trash can??

Basically trash everything sims except my back up?

Right. Just the stuff I mentioned should be the only items you drag to the trash can.

Then install sims 1 Do I open it and try it to make sure it works and look for updates on the launcher  or just install sims 1 them right after install World adventure, then High End lofts  then Ambitions-am I not trying each one after install? How about River View?

Install one after the other. Do not check for updates in between. Riverview you'd just install again from the EA site when you're done.
 

After all is done(hopefully) Do I them go back and redownload all my stuff from sims site or just use the folder downloads that I already have?

All I have ever downloaded from the EA site is Riverview, so I'm assuming there's a simply way of managing what you have already downloaded from them, but I can't offer any tips.

Sorry I was replying when you were--Is it best I disconnect from wireless during this?
Not sure if it will try to connect after each install.
So after Ambitions I will do the patch or is it before Ambitions?
Then just drag in my saved games
I do hope after all this that those downloads will work.

I did a wipe/reinstall last week and there were no patches to even worry about. But, yes, you want to connect after installing Ambitions to see if something needs to be patched before you fire up your first game.

Once you have everything reinstalled and it's working right, you can go to The Sims 3 Store.  Log in and hover over The Store at the top and click My Account.  Then in the sidebar on the left, you'll see Purchase History.  Click that and it will bring up every item you've downloaded from the Store (both purchased and free items).  From there you can download all of it again.  It's sort of a pain if you have a lot of stuff, but it should work for you.  Riverview will be in with all that stuff, too.

Metro-Your directions were EXCELLENT!! They will be saved for future use if need be.

Pam that's just what I did, went to accounts and downloaded again and worked out great, ALL of them are back----yahooo
Only 2 problems left over still from my saved games:

1. No map tags visible in Riverview, which started after the first Ambitions install or possibly the patch- still no map tags after reinstall but they work fine in SunsetValley and TwinBrooks.  I have the filters set to all, they came back for a little while after going to China then disappeared again.
2. My Sim runs all over the place in TwinBrooks she just does not slow down, she makes me exhausted!!!

Other than that things are back to pretty much normal. Thanks to all of you!

If you can think of any way to correct above please let me know if not hopefully the next patch will solve them.  I have read quite a lot of other posts with the same problems.

On the running around, we have a whole thread dedicated to that problem.  Click here to visit The Run Around Bug.  In my case, traveling to a different country got rid of the running.

I'm stumped on the tags in Riverview now that you've downloaded it again.  And you're positive you've got the filter set to All?

Jancy, I'm glad everything went smoothly for you. Yeah, the map tags deal seems to be a recent annoyance with Ambitions. While playing my character for the recent Paranormal Profiteer LTW walkthrough I continually had to select the filter to "All." Tags would disappear and I would have to set the filter again and again.

I do get the Map Tags in Riverview when I go into edit town but when out of that they do not show up.  I've clicked all the filters and nothing.
Before the reinstall I tried a new game and still no show,  After Ambitions I had to do the same in Riverview-keep hitting all (map tag filter)
but after about a half hour they just stopped showing up completely.
 
I'll try a new game again in Riverview since I haven't done that since the new install just to see if they are there in that one.
 
I'll send my sim in Twinbrooks out of town to see if that will get rid of the running.

Hi All,
Well my sim still runs in Twinbrooks after returning from China

A new game in Riverview does show Map Icons, but I have so much time invested in my old Riverview I hate to have to start over.

So here's hoping when the next patch comes out-maybe- it'll fix these problems.
In the meantime, maybe it'll just correct itself (wishful thinking).
