Sims wont stop feeding their pets!

I was playing sims normaly and I had a cat... I had 3 sims and 2 dicided to NON-STOP feed the cat a treat, was driveing me and the cat crazy so I locked the cat in the backyard so the 2 sims could do that anymore. Within 15 seconds of doing this the 2 were spaming "feed cat with treat and unable to get there thus crashing the game...

HOW DO I STOP THIS!

I have a similar problem but with small pets, every time I leave them alone they are there feeding the fishes  ::)
