As the title says, what exactly happens to a family when you move the family and their house to the clipboard? I'm doing a dynasty challenge and I have the annoying bug that means I can't build a second storey without the game crashing and while I know I can just have a single storey house I really would much prefer a house with floors! I want to try the fix that involves moving the house and family to the clipboard and then bulldozing the lot and then replacing it but I don't know what the consequences of that are and would hate to ruin my game.  :o

There really aren't any consequences.  When you move your family and house to the clipboard, it's just holding them for you.  As long as you don't exit the game before you place them back in town, it will be fine.  Also, be sure to save your game and maybe even make a backup copy of it before you do anything.  I would also suggest that you check with the Dynasty challenge team before doing this.  I think I might have read on one of the Dynasty threads that this isn't allowed because having a single story house isn't a game breaker.

Thanks Pam for your reply. I shall give it a go, although it's a Dynasty game it's not an official one, so it will be fine. Thanks again  :)

I had that issue with building & when I saved it crashed. I picked up the house with the hand tool & moved it to another lot & it let me build then.

Good luck :)

I lost the paintings my Sims have created when I had to use that workaround twice. They had been placed on the walls, maybe they wouldn't vanish from inventory. Photographs in wall frames were fine. I also had alchemy elixirs disappear from their display shelf storage space -- the ones on the two actual shelves of the display were not affected. Collected metals, gems and insects didn't vanish from their displays.

I don't currently have a sculptor, inventor or nectar maker, so no idea if any of their creations are affected.
