So, I started the game up for the first time in awhile and began a new file in Riverview.

After buying a house and rearranging the furniture, I started “selling” the books on the bookshelves. But then, every time I dragged them to the sell box in the inventory, it made a sound like I sold it. However, it came back inside the house, after which it sold like normal.

And then as my Sim leaves to a skill class, she keeps rerolling the “Pillow Fight with a Sim” wish, which I keep cancelling, over and over and over. She still hasn’t stopped.

I just updated to Patch 1.42 and reinstalled my NRaas stuff. Could this be a problem with the patch that I’ll have to wait for EA to fix? Or is something within MasterController malfunctioning?

“You ought to upgrade to Windows 7!”, they said. “It’ll help your games run so much better!”, they said. If I see them again, then they had better know how to stabilize an on-the-fritz copy of The Sims 3 that was working just fine on Windows XP.

These issues have been around since before 1.42.
Regarding the return of sold items - If you unpause the game, the items that appeared on the ground will disappear without needing to be resold.  So it's more of an exploit to keep selling them.

The Pillow Fight with a Sim thing just means that your fun is around halfway.  They will keep rerolling the wish until the need is raised.  This also happens with wanting to Karaoke if you have Showtime.

Okay, that cleared things up. I hadn’t played too much between patches 1.36 and 1.42.

True, I had the game paused when selling the books. However, they were worth §0 since they came with the bookcase.
I hadn’t let my Sim raise the Fun bar yet so that explains that. She was only 2 hours in before it started rolling.

Glad to know I didn’t run into rare problems right off the bat. ;)
