How many sims can be in start of game?
« on: November 05, 2012, 08:27:39 AM »
I hope this is the right place and I have the title right.

I was wondering how many sims I can create at the beginning of the game.  I have created the couples, but can I added and make it a family from the start?

I want to make up and add a couple of families to a town, MF, and was wondering if I could crate a family with two or three kids at  cetain ages.  I would like to have some control over creation of looks, taits and favorites.

Janna, the household limit is 8 Sims.  They can be any ages.  There is an option in Create-a-Sim to "Play with Genetics" that will allow you to see what a couples' children may look like, and you can set the ages, traits, etc. to whatever you want them to be.

If you want, you can create as many households as you want and move them into your town.  But you will only be able to control one household at a time, so who knows what the others may get up to when you're not controlling them!

Thanks,

I knew there was a limit to eight, and have changed some traits in the edit town, traits not given when a sim ages up.  Used the modify as one kid aged up to teen and he went from fit to seriously overweight.

That is basically what I want to do, create some families that have children already at older stages, teen, YA's and move them to a town to increase population.  What I am wondering is, when I create the family, am I limited to just the couple in the start of the game, or can I add more.
Such as create a family of four, mom, dad and two kids; one child, one teen.  Put them in a nice home, save them to library and then tranfer them to MF.

Yes, I believe you can set the life stage in the "basics" part of CAS, and then specify their family relationships when you're done creating them.

Also remember - if Story Progression moved out a lot of Sims from your town because of your computer needing fewer Sims there is a good possibility that even the families you place in town could move out or become homeless instead of living in the homes you gave them.

Thanks everyone.

I started a game to see what the genetics was, my son showed it to me and asked me didn't I see that in the manuel when I read it?

I didn't read the manuel. So he said it was official, I was an idiot. LOL  I asked him then what did that make him.

We "insult" each other a lot, it is in fun, not to be mean.

The writing is too small in the manuel; I guess I need to inlarge it and read it.  I just read the lessons that are in the game and do lots of searching here to learn.

Thanks again for giving me the help.

Schipperke gave you an answer to your question.  Maybe you missed it or maybe it wasn't clear to you.

You can add as many Sims to the family as you want, up to the limit of eight, and you can create them to be however you want them.  Let us know if you have trouble getting it to happen.  :)

Pam,
I realized later that he had answerd it; my mind was mising that day I guess and it didn't click till later.  At times I seem to be slow in connecting the dots; unfortuntely, I am slow at times in connecting those dots.  One of the medications I have no choice in taking number one side effect is mental confusion.

It did click later what he was saying; just at the time I read it, it wasn't clear to me.

No worries.  I just wanted to make sure you had seen the answer.  Also, Schipperke is a she.  :)

Sorry Schipperke,

I guess I didn't pick it up from reading threads; I grew up with the genreal use of "he" to represent either gender.  Lots of times the handles used don't give a clue as to what is what.

No problem, Janna.  I've long felt that English needed a gender-neutral pronoun to avoid that "she"-"he" thing.  I don't care what people use as long as they don't call me "it"!  :)
