WA and the Gardening Bug.

Has anyone found a solution to the problem of the broken gardening action when travelling to the three vacation destinations?
(Other than using mods, or buying SN).

The problem is that the collection journal for plants does not generate when the sim travels.  The result, only one plant can be harvested at a time and it is not possible to queue actions.

I have found this extremely frustrating as I like to reserve gardening for vacation time.  It can be difficult to juggle, gardening, work, family and friends in the home location.

I have been playing around with this, trying to find a solution or workround.

So far, I have discovered that if you create a new sim and immediately on moving them to their first home you go to China you can get a plants' page to generate if the first thing the sim does on arriving in China is to harvest a few plants (either from the garden community lot or from someone's garden).  This page is permanent and does not affect the gardening skill at home.  However, the problem persists in France and Egypt.  This only works if the sim has not collected anything, or purchased anything collectable prior to travelling.  I assume, but have not confirmed this, that if France or Egypt were chosen as the first destination the page would generate for that town, but not the other two.  I have tested this (in China) with five different sims and it has worked consistantly.  All the sims I had when the last patch was issued and all sims I created after the patch other than those I have started as above have been afflicted with the blank plants page bug.

The above makes it possible to have a working garden in one vacation destination.  Not ideal, but, unless someone has found a better solution, it may help others whose style of play includes gardening on vacation.

Incidently, I first tried a factory reset, and then a full re-installation, but neither solved the problem.  I do not wish to use mods or buy Supernatural though I understand that either of these will fix the problem.

I doubt purchasing [Supernatural] will correct the issue, since the error that you are encountering was incurred with the Patch that came with that expansion.

The only way to bypass the issue (sans mods) would be to revert to a Patch Level prior to EA's bungling of the code.  Essentially you would need to uninstall the game, and then only patch back up Patch 1.36 .

Unfortunately, the error will return if you ever decide to update the game to Patch 1.38 or above in the future, unless EA corrects the error. :)
