Change Active Family
« on: October 15, 2012, 12:03:06 PM »
Hello everyone. I am brand new to the Sims 3. I like having only my sims in a neighbor, so in past games I've emptied out the neighborhood and moved my sims in instead. I also like having all of my sims grow up together.

So far the only way I've figured out how to do this is to keep switching the Active Household, but this is erasing the Promises and Wishes of my existing families. Is there any easier way to do it? Is the only way to have multiple Playable Sims in a neighborhood is by switching the Active back and forth?

I've never seen any other way to change families except through switching the Active Household, I don't believe there is a way to keep Wishes and Promises, at least I've never seen a way.

As Simslover said, I don't think there's any way to play multiple households other than switching Active Household.  And that can not only erase their promises and wishes, it can do other strange things.  When I first got Sims3, I had  a level 10 cook.  I left her alone for a short time while I played another character and when I went back to check on her, she was working at level 5 (what happened?  she got demoted?) and had formed a romantic relationship with Beau Andrews, of all people.  I don't usually talk to my Sims, but I remember sitting there demanding "Beau Andrews?  What were you thinking?  Was he the best you could do?".  She didn't answer.  :D

My best strategy would be to fulfill any huge wishes you wouldn't want dropped before switching households. So if your active sims wants to get married, get them hitched before checking on someone else. It's not perfect, but it's the best, modless solution I can offer.
