Junkyard in Sunset Valley?
« on: September 14, 2010, 08:14:31 AM »
I have just started my first new Sunset Valley game since installing ambitions (I have mainly played Twinbrook since I got the ep), and I can not find the junkyard anywhere in that town? Does the game not automatically place a junkyard in SV, or am i just too blind?

It is usually at the end of Pinacle point.  That is where mine is everytime I start a SV game.
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

Same for me, ik, the Junkyard's at the end of Pinochle Point when I start a new Sunset Valley game (the closest home is "Goth Manor" if you're like me and get lost sometimes just looking at the map).

But ... I vaguely recall at some point being asked by the game to "place" the Ambitions lots? The Fire House, Salon, etc?

I think it was when I was playing a game I'd saved and played after installing Ambitions.

Worst case, you can place a Junkyard wherever you'd like, there's one in the "Community Lots" tab in the "Edit Town" mode.

It is not there in my game :( . I considered doing my DaVinci challenge in SV, but without a junkyard I would have to buy all my scrap and lower my inventing profit :( . I guess I will have to go back to Twinbrook after all.

You don't have to go back to TB, Ik, Like Happytime said, go to Edit Town and Grady's junkyard (I think that's the name) is under community lots. If you don't have any that size available, just either change a residential to a community or place a new one in the correct size. You would have to change the new lot to community FYI.

If it is a challenge game then Edit Town might be banned.  :-\

Uh-oh I hadn't thought of that! That's very true! Sorry Ik!

Did you start a brand new game to look for the junkyard?  Or were you using an existing game to search for it?  You need to start a new game after installing Ambitions to see any of the Ambitions buildings already in Sunset Valley.

I did start a brand new game several times, but nothing changed. Fire station, salon and consignment store are there automatically, but no junkyard anywhere. I have gone back to Twinbrook now for my daVinci challenge game, but i guess i will eventually have to reinstall (if i ever find the time to do that) and hope that fixes the problem.

If something like that happens again, you can ask Metro for permission to use Edit Town to make the town right for the challenge.  Sorry if you've already asked him.  I haven't been on the challenge threads much lately.

Does the junkyard lot properly show up as a lot at all?  My game has recently stopped placing the consignment shop; the lot shows up as that default blue color instead of just being grass (so obviously the game realizes that something ought to be there).  All I do to fix it is bulldoze it, change the lot type back to Consignment, then place the shop.  It's not ideal but isn't terribly inconvenient.
