Elixirs and the omni plant

Can you feed elixirs, or for that matter, other alchemy ingredients such as gems and have the omni plant reproduce them?  It might be an easier way to get more of the rarer potions if so.

You can't feed them gems, but you can feed them the ones you can grow.  This is especially useful with mushrooms, since they have to regrow each time you harvest them.
