Live Mode Freezes

At the moment when I'm playing in live mode it works ok if I run on the normal speed but if I use the x2 speed or the really fast one it freezes every couple of game minutes. The freeze lasts a few seconds and then it plays again. I only have 1 sim in the household I'm trying to play and it takes SO long to get through a single night, it's too frustrating to play.

I have no idea about techy stuff. What could cause this and what do I need to do? I used to play a lot with just the base game and it never did this. It's been since getting some expansions that I've noticed this.

It works fine in build mode.

Any advice is appreciated.

Have you checked your free space in the hard disk? When you install more and more Expansion Packs your free space lowers and everything seems to freeze. If that's the problem I'd recommend that you erase some stuff from your computer that you don't need.

There's 72GB free (about half), is that enough?

72GB are more than enough! I have 3GB max and I try to delete files and things because I have the same problem. And as Frey said cleaning up the game would be a good solution.

I deleted all the suggested cache things and it didn't help. 

Any other ideas?

The solutions are not so extremely useful because they concentrate on Mods (well, unless you're willing to install them), but at least it explains a bit why the freezing/lag happens. That thing about moveobjects on is new for me, and it may explain some of my issues.

Try resetting the whole town.  It's the same as resetting a Sim except you type * instead of the Sim's name:  "resetsim *" (without quote marks) in the cheats panel (which is Shift+Ctrl+C).

I just fixed it, you'll never guess what it was that was causing the problem! I tried getting my sim out of the house, getting rid of the house, and then putting the house back and then the sim back into the house (which weirdly gave her £2,000 more in funds for some reason) This didn't help though.  Then I went round the town 'undoing' what I'd done to it. So I first tried getting rid of a new house I'd put in.... that didn't help. Then I deleted the extra junkyard. My sim is an inventor so I had duplicated the junkyard that was already in riverview and put it right next to her house (cos I'm lazy like that). So just now I deleted the original junkyard (making only 1 left) and it worked! It's all working fine now!

I had NO idea you couldn't use multiple community lots like that! *shrug*

Is it because the townies or whoever would get confused about which to go to?

Really? I had no idea that could happen. I wouldn't bet my head on it but I think I had duplicated junkyards once without trouble. But maybe each of them was a different kind of junkyard from the library (there are at least two) or something.

Hey, I've been having this issue a lot. I tried everything listed above, as well as everything on the wiki site. Finally, what solved it for me was resetting everything with Master controller. Cleared up all the lag issues! Just wanted to update in case people were still having problems!
