Corrupted file, no .backup or .bad

I made this save game just yesterday, and now the game says it can't load the save, that it may have been saved with an expansion pack that's  no longer present or something. I have no expansion packs and never have. I've gone into the files, there is no .backup for the save, and no .bad. There's just Sunset Valley.sims3. Is there anything I can do? I'd really like to get the save back.

Sometimes I get that message too and it tells me to restart the application so I quit the Sims and restart it up via the launcher.  Sometimes I don't even restart and I just try it again and it will work the second time.   Do you use CC or Mods?  Sometimes one of them can cause an issue but it's rare and you never know.

No mods, no CC, nothing, really. I've restarted it a few times but it still says the same thing.

Have you tried clearing out your cache files?  There are four files that you can delete and everything in your DCBackup but the ccmerged.package.   Or if you don't have a lot of store content, maybe doing a factory reset where you just move your save over to the new file and see if it works then.
