Repairman Problem
« on: August 19, 2012, 09:12:37 PM »
Hi,

I'm playing an immortal dynasty at the moment, and I seem to have a glitch with the repairman!

Every time something breaks, I get my sim to call them, and they come like normal, but then they won't fix anything! They just stand around, one played with the mirror,

and another one just stood outside!

Eventually, after reading for a while, grabbing something to eat, or just standing around, they charge me and leave... Without fixing a thing!
I've tried firing them and dismissing them, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone else have this problem? Can you fix it, or will my next heir be supermaxing handiness? Haha ;D

Sometimes when you hire someone, they don't work. Usually, if money isn't tight, I just replace it. But it might not hurt to have a sim supermax handiness. And if they stay outside, make sure you have the door unlocked so they can come in.
Hope this helps

Make sure that the broken item is something that they can reach.  You don't want it to be behind doors that you have locked to people outside of your household.  I had a problem where the repairman just couldn't get to the trash compactor so he did the same thing that yours is doing.  Sometimes moving the object somewhere outside the home can help too.  Then when they are done, you can just move it back.

Also, if it's a wall television, make sure there's nothing in front of it to block the repairman.

Are you Sims at home when they arrive? I had a repairperson stand outside the front door, my Sim was out at the time but as soon as they arrived home the repairperson went inside and got to work.

Have you tried resetsim yet?

Aha, thanks everyone for your help! I thought they had full access, I had checked the front door and it wasn't locked, but after what Ricalynn said, I checked the bathroom door and it was locked! I think I'd locked it to my household only once for a party and forgotten all about it. Silly me! So that's why they were standing around, I wish they'd at least gone up to it and done that little "Ugh, I can't get through" dance, then I would have known it wasn't a bug! Oh well, oops. :-[ Thanks again for your help guys!
