Library vs Lot Costs Differences?
« on: August 14, 2012, 08:53:29 PM »
As I've been going through my houses I've noticed a difference between the price of the lot when in the library, and then the cost of that same lot after it's been placed on a lot.

Why the difference? When noting the cost of the lot which price do you note?

I've tried what was suggested = Save the lot to the library, bulldoze the build and then replace it with the one in the library.

But the price difference still remains.

Please note, I know there's a sticky note of a similar topic, but wasn't sure if it was okay to post there or create a new topic.

I always use the lot amount shown when I'm in "build" mode. I didn't even check to see if it's the same as shown in Edit Town. I'll have to pay more attention.

From what I've learned, or experienced over the last couple of days the prices are the same when in "build" mode to Edit Town - when mousing over the lot. However the price is different when you select the same lot in the library.

Hubby suggested to note the price or prices from the build mode. But another question came mind is the unfurnished price isn't correct in build mode if you really think about it. As if you then delete all the furniture from the house, the unfurnished price will be different than what it stated previously.

Makes my head spin thinking about it. *Snicker*

I always use "Undo" if I can because if you delete an item, the cost isn't the same. For instance, a new wall section costs $70. If you undo it, you get the entire $70 back. If you delete it, you only get $58 back. Do you think this is what is making the difference for you?

Hmm.. I don't think so? As what I'm really trying to do is determine the actual furnished price vs. actual unfurnished price. As this is what I'd want to write down in my notes on the house.

I've never noticed this but I never pay too much attention. My guess it's the lot value that changes? If you place a 30x30 lot for instance, it won't cost the same if you place it downtown as if you place it further away in the "suburbs". So, if you have a lot in the library and then place it in your town, it could change its price just because of where you have placed it, even if the lot size is exactly the same.

It's just a guess, but it makes sense to me  ???

Yes, placing a house in different lots around the town does make a difference. Specially when placing a house that you say built in one of the lots behind City Hall - in Sunset Valley, and then go and place that house on one of the lots by the beach.
