Could uninstalling pets affect my other towns (SV and RV)?
« on: August 16, 2012, 07:07:08 PM »
I am getting fed up with the being overwhelmed with the strays.  I have a family in RV that has been invaded by stray cats.  I put out the gone stray felines due to two different cats living on my porch.
Instead I ended up with at least four or more each night, fighting for who would stay and who would go.  Then, a dog shows up and (s)he and one of the cats become friends and they have been chasing away the other strays.  Howling, cat fights all night long.

This isn't the first time a home has been invaded with the strays, either one type or both.  Usually the family chases them away and there is peace.

I am seriously thinking of uninstallling pets, but am wondering how it will affects the games/families I have that are in other towns. This family kept going and feeding the dog and cat treats, so I finally broke down and adopted the cat and dog, hoping to get rid of the other strays -- now I have fleas!  Mom, Dad, a teen who has just aged up, a child who just aged up and a newborn.

In AP I very seldom see strays, in RV or SV, I seem them all the time and they are getting anoying.    So, if I uninstall pets, how does that affect my sim families in SV and RV?

If you uninstall Pets, there won't be strays in Sunset Valley and Riverview anymore.

If you don't mind using a mod? Nraas has a mod called Register, I think it's called, that can be used to control the animal population.  I found it today while going through and setting up the mods I have. I set each animal type to 0.

The behavior you describe doesn't fit with what I've seen of cats and dogs.  Howling cat fights all night long?  What exactly are they doing?  And you've already put out the gnome and switched it to discourage strays?  Does this happen in any other game file?  The fleas can be gotten rid of by simply taking a bath or shower.

If you can last a few more week Janna, I believe that that patch for Supernatural does include the device to control occult populations, and I am pretty sure, though I have nothing to link to right now, that it was said you could control stray animal populations as well.  So if you can wait until the patch comes out, or you get Supernatural, that will probably help some with the problem.

I had just the two cats and the one dog at first.  Tthey didn't seem to like each other but no fighting; just some barking, cat noise type behaviour.  I put out the stray gnome and bang, cats galore!

It was fighting, it would happen at night and I could hear them, the dog barking and some howling all night, or the growls and snarls of warnings and at least two times the sounds of what I believe are cat fights.  I went out one time during the night after the sounds of fighting and there were I think five cats on the porch in poses of fighting stance; backs arched, growls, the hissing sound of cats as a warning.  A couple in the yard running which I figured one was trying to chase away another, the dog chasing another.
Shooed away the cats and all left except one cat and the dog, they went to each other and touched noses then laid down, images of food, bed, and sign of really, really tired.  I watched them a couple of nights; family was sleeping so had the time and they would lay there for a few minutes, get up and touch noses, lay down and then repeat it.  Poor things seemed to not be able to sleep at all.

Throughtout the day I would see them, the cat and dog, acting friendly, trying to sleep beside each other, but they couldn't seem to stay asleep.  Finally gave in, hated to see them so tired.  Took out the gnome and hope that keeping them as pets will stop the others from coming.

First time for such fighting, negative behaviour.  Have had quite a few of them show up separately or sometimes in pairs, but not the fighting.   I am just fed up with the strays.  Mainly in RV and that is the town I like the most.
I have three families, three different careers, this is a new one, it has to be a glitch for this family the fighting.   But all the strays I am getting?

This happended after the last patch (the huge amount of strays and fighting), could that be it?
