New computer/graphics card question
« on: August 05, 2012, 06:55:07 PM »
I am looking to buy a new computer, and really didn't know where to start. Now, I'm stuck on the graphics card. I understand that a built in Intel HD isn't good enough, right?  Would any of these work?

512MB AMD Radeon HD 7350 [DVI, HDMI, VGA adapter]

1GB AMD Radeon HD 7450 [DVI, HDMI, VGA adapter]

1GB Nvidia GeForce GT620 [DVI, HDMI, VGA via Adapter]

Thanks for any guidance.

Hi, tumblers.

I'm a little partial to nVidia cards myself, but any nVidia or ATi card with 1 GB or more of RAM should work fine.

Edit: After checking out some reviews online, I'm leaning toward this Sapphire Radeon {Amazon link} card for my own computer. Out of the "low end" cards reviewed at Tom's Hardware (warning - multiple page, extremely dense, geeky review), the Radeon 7750 scored highest in the category. The nVidia GT 640 I was originally looking at scored in the mid-range. Granted, the 7750 is around $110, but it seems to be the best out of the current crop of budget cards. :)
