I have not played Sims much recently as I have been busy, but the other day I was doing some maintenance on my laptop which involved uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and decided to play it again. When I opened the launcher, I was informed that there was a new update to install, so naturally I installed it. When I again opened the launcher after the patch (1.36.45) had finished installing, I was greeted with the message "There was an error during startup. See the log for more details".
I have proceeded to uninstall and reinstall my game at least 10 times (I spent 11 hours yesterday attempting to resolve this issue), and yet I still get this error message each time I open the launcher. I have attempted to bypass the launcher by going to Local Disk (C:)>Program Files (x86)>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3>Game>Bin>TS3W.exe but I only get the popup "Unable to start game. Service Initialization failed (0x0175dcbb)".
I have also tried downloading the patch and updating manually. This has resulted in the same error message. I have no mods or CC installed in my game, and have deleted my save games in case they were buggy. I've tried uninstalling through the launcher AND manually, neither has had any effect. I have no idea what to try next, as I have googled my issue and no-one else appears to have had the same one, or if they have it has been resolved by one of the methods I have already tried.
Can anyone help me?
