Moats
« on: July 30, 2012, 09:01:42 AM »
I've been want to build a castle (in Sims) that would put all others of its kind to shame. I have some plans worked out, but before I start building, I'm wondering if I can make a moat. (I want one that goes around the entire castle, and I'm going to use the pond setting.) If so, could I make a brige or somting similar to that would go over the moat?
If a cluttered desk is an indication of a clutter mind, what is indicated by an empty desk?

You can make a moat, you will need to use foundation/decks to create the bridge and have stairs on either side though so it may not look exactly as you want it to. A foundation piece will allow you to extend two floor tiles out from the foundation section so you could make something that looks similar to a drawbridge.

If you want to make an arch bridge for the moat there is a tutorial here and one with a little different way of doing it here. Hope those help.

It was the first tutorial I used when making the moat around the Vampire Lounge.

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing the pics, I love castles :) Just built one myself, was toying with the idea of a moat, but decided against it in the end. Let us know how it turns out!

Grimsoul, thanks for those links, very helpful - can Sims walk over arched bridges though?

Just finshed the moat. It's was pretty easy really. ;) Now I'm working on the inside! I loved making the turrets too!

Yes, they walk over the bridge without a problem.
