In Game Challenges
« on: July 27, 2012, 08:44:46 PM »
So checked out the wiki, and saw for each skill that there challenges.
Are these challenges the same as life time wishes?
How do you recieve the opportunity to complete a challenge?

(Sorry if it's in the wrong spot)

The skill challenges are just 'bonus' things to be done for each skill (not the same as LTW) and you generally won't need to get a specific Opportunity except for several of them, such as inventing's SimBot and the instruments' Star challenges. You can just do them when you wish. A Sim can complete several, or even all of them.

Usually they give various bonuses to the skill beyond what skill level 10 normally offers. For example, for Painting, we have

Brushmaster (30 paintings) - "makes Sim paint faster" (actually doubles painting speed)
Proficient Painter (6 brilliant paintings) - raises probability of Brilliant and Masterpiece paintings
Master Painter (5 masterpieces) - "every painting they sell is worth more" (in practice, doubles value of paintings).

Oh thanks, didn't know about that. Where do you find them?

You go to the skills journal - press J, or go to your Sim's Skill Panel, then click on the little icon that looks like a piece of paper (if I remember rightly). :)

Oh thanks, didn't know about that. Where do you find them?

Welcome to our Forum.

I can give you some more general information, too.  The challenges you mentioned are found in the Skill Journal tab.  That's where the game keeps up with how your Sim is progressing on the different skills.  As drifter999 said, completing these Skill Journal challenges usually gives your Sim an extra benefit.  Here on our Forum, when a Sim reaches level 10 in a skill AND completes all of the Skill Journal challenges, we call this SuperMaxing the skill.  This term is found in our two Dynasty challenges, the Immortal Dynasty Challenge and the Townie DecaDynasty Challenge.  SuperMaxing a skill is a requirement of both challenges and the term is commonly used around the Forum.

I hope this helps you.  Please ask more questions if there's some confusion.
