Out of Bound Gnomes?
« on: July 18, 2012, 06:25:00 PM »
Long time lurker, but first time poster - so, I apologize if this question is in the wrong place or has been covered somewhere before.

I have an odd, rather annoying problem with my gnomes - in all their activity around the yard, occasionally one will end up on the edge of the property and then becomes stuck.  In Build Mode, they are not selectable to move - I tried the moveallObjects cheat and, to my surprise, that didn't work either.  I do play with Master Controller, Error Trap, and Overwatch.  I've reset the lot a few times with no luck their either.  The picture below is the third gnome I have had to this - he'll be stuck there until he dies and then his tombstone will appear in the middle of the yard.  Any suggestions out there??

My gnomes do this all the time while they are popping around.  Every Sim night around 6 am (so I guess it's every Sim morning) I go gnome hunting.  They get stuck in places where I have a fence usually.   The only way to move them back onto your lot is in live mode and you should be able to grab them like you were putting them in the inventory and just placing them in an empty spot on your lawn.  Within moments (depending on the frequency of your gnome hopping), it should join the others.   Have you actually tried doing this or just in build mode?  All of mine are always grab-able meaning it shows the cursor where it's a hand, gear & pointer.

Hmmm..... I think I have tried that, but I've been so consumed trying other things, I'm not positive I tried a simple solution, lol.  Will be firing up the game soon & I'll try first thing!

Let me know how it goes.   I could show you tons of pictures of my dynasty lot with it's gnome problem.  My sister and nephew laugh every time they see me pause the game and do a "perimeter check."

YAAAY!  It worked!!  Boy, do I feel like a real doofus now, lol - I was exhausting all these other efforts & all I had to do was move it in Live Mode!  On behalf of myself and my stuck gnomes ...thank you very much!

I soooooo understand how you felt!  I had the same situation, and as you can see in my dynasty I'm rather obsessed with my gnomes, so it was scary to see them stuck outside the perimeter.  Finally tried a grab instead of going into build mode and voila!  Felt just like you did!  Face palm!
What?  Grannies can't play games?

lol - glad it wasn't just me!  It seems like forever I rarely had a gnome and now all of a sudden I have like 6!  And yes, I've become a bit obsessive over them now - I routinely do perimeter checks now making sure no one is out of bounds :)
