Radio Tower, Simhenge and Landgraab dome
« on: July 24, 2012, 09:02:36 AM »
There are objects in the Stock Sunset Valley that aren't on lots but just kind of plopped right on the landscape but when working on a world with Caw and I go into edit in game I find these items in the community objects in build mode and I can only get into build mode by first selecting a lot to build on.

So how do we just plop these objects on the terrain with out them needing to be on a lot?

They are in the Metadata Tab.

Landscape decoration generally needs its own layer (for optimal performance etc)... Switch to your 'decoration' layer, and just double-click on the object that you want to place, in the Metadata tab. Press 'esc' after placing something, otherwise you might find that you've accidentally placed a few decorations you don't want.

PolarBair, apologies if this is presumptuous, but have you checked out Krrank's tutorials? It's excellent, very thorough without being in any way prescriptive, and gives good hints and tips that you might not otherwise think of. The link to the objects tiptorial is here: http://krrank.blogspot.co.uk/2011/12/chapter-five-placing-objects.html

Oooh Thanks. I'm glad some one mentioned the before I got to far along with.

Also, Can't seem to find the space shuttle or the runway or radar dishes for the military base. Any clues?

Hmmmm, I know that the runway is called 'Airport' in the metadata, but I'm not sure about the others.... you might just have to play around a little and look for them....
