Bridgeport Gold Star Homes
« on: May 17, 2012, 03:06:50 AM »
just curious, what does it take to get a gold star home?  There are several rich folks on the other side of the bridge and they all have gold star homes in the map view.  My sim is quite rich and is a 5 star celeb and I'd like him to have this star icon.  He lives in a penthouse on the city side of the bridge.

I think the stars appear if one of the residents is a celebrity.

If he's your active sim, you won't see it. Even when I switched houses, I never saw it for my main active sim. Both she and her husband were 5 star celebs.

thanks for answering.  I tried a dozen or so houses and all I get is a copper colour if they know him (friend/acquaintance/enemy status) or no icon at all if they don't know him.  MoMoll, Can I presume you know your 5 star celebs are a gold star status and if so, how do you know.  I have 3 other sims in Bridgeport.  My couple have 1 star celeb status each and the third has 3 star celeb status.  I don't see gold for them either.  Only on those few houses across the bridge (which have shown gold since I loaded Bridgeport) and my main active sim knows some of them.  But those houses always show a gold star, not copper.  There are no gold star homes on the city side.

The husband is Matthew Hamming, and he had a star before my sim asked him to marry her. And, they moved into her home across the bridge. In other games she was in a penthouse. Each time she marries Matt, I've never seen a star above their house.

hmmm...my guy isn't married, nor is he going to be.  Kind of disappointing if marriage is what it takes.  Judging by the $amount of those in the gold houses, my guy has significantly more than them and as I said, a 5 star celeb.  He deserves one.  I guess he'll just have to pretend.  If Hamming had one before he married it stands to reason that they would all lose that gold star when an otherwise game player (ie our own characters) marry them, celeb status or not.  Disappointing as the gold star seems to be a huge status symbol showing great significance.  I wonder if a regular townie married him and lived in his home, if he might keep it then.  Something I might try just to see.

No, doesn't work. I had Matt marry my sim and they lived in his house. No gold star. I've played the gme with my sim as active, and Matt as active. No gold star once they become "active".

Weird.  I get that the icon wouldn't be gold if he's the active character - green as it should be.  I did some testing for 3 scenarios.  I felt that others should see his home as a gold star, ie. my other characters.
1) - Started Bridgeport from scratch.  Matthew married Jun Xi (I think that's how it was spelled) a townie who was not a celeb.  I then used Edit Town and went to 4 of the gold houses, checked the map view and this is what showed up.
- Counting Hamming all 5 were gold house icons on the map view from each residence pertaining to the individuals who knew Hamming.  So the Belle house had 4 people living there and only one (Jupiter - the kid) knew Hamming.  So the gold icon showed for him, but not the others.
- Hamming knew these people & gold icons showed in the map view for their homes & vice versa his:
Jupiter Belle - acquaintance
Old & New Glam (Alan Stanley & Emmy Starr) - acquaint & disliked
Striker (Ritchie) 3 residents - BFF
Littler (Reuben) 5 residents - enemy

2)  Then I did a 2nd test with Matthew and a character I created.  I made sure she knew someone from the Old & New Glam household and then she married and moved in with Matthew.  The same held true as the first scenario.

3)  Copied my original town and moved my character to one of the gold star homes.  Guess what.  Of the characters he knows they had gold icons and when I went to Hamming' home and checked the map view, my character had the gold star icon.  My conclusion for what it's worth - those gold star lots/homes are per-designated and you must live in one of them to obtain that icon.  Hope that helps clear things up, in case anyone else has this question.  It sure was muddy for me.  In the end, I'm keeping my penthouse.  I really like it.  I don't need a gold star that badly.  Thanks for your input.  It helped me figure it out.

The homes with gold stars all have a gate that you have to ring to get in. I believe that is the similarity amongst them.
