Question - Stuff Packs?
« on: June 25, 2012, 07:51:17 PM »
As I read through some of the threads on this board, I see that some people have reinstalled their Sims 3 game and expansion packs, but not any of the stuff packs.

I haven't dug much into the "why" of this, but was hoping some would say why they didn't install the stuff packs. Is it that the stuff packs are giving people lots of problems?

I don't think stuff packs cause any problems, and most people would see them as just extra content. I'm guessing when people mention that they have uninstalled everything and then re-installed all or some of their expansion packs, they don't mention the stuff packs because these are just extra content. They have probably installed the SP's again, just not mentioned them. That's my thoughts on it anyway  :D

That sounds right to me, too.  Stuff packs don't really have any bugs, either, because they don't tamper with the game mechanics.  It's just hair, clothes, furniture, etc.  There's really no reason not to re-install stuff packs, unless maybe there's a space issue on someone's computer.

I always thought it was mostly a laptop issue, since laptops easily have less amount of disk space than a desktop does, so naturally it's all based on personal preferences, based on the person's real world interests, and game play preferences. For example: A person who's a builder would most likely prefer OLS, while someone who still likes their classic Sim items, will want HELS. A person most interested in silly random objects will lean toward KPST, but maybe a more realistic person will want Town Life.

Yeah, I was thinking it might be space issue or just the preference of not wanting to install them.

However, I believe HELS has some sort of new game play objects with TS3. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the aquarium, the vibrating bed, and maybe the electric guitar have some form of new interactions.

But, yes Mrs. Flynn, I think it's a disk space thing, and that the decision is based on one's personal preference, as to what type game play and Simming style they like.  :)

Many new items will have new interactions for Sims, but it doesn't change the game mechanics like an expansion pack does.  Stuff packs don't add new careers, Lifetime Wishes, etc.
