Traits available to basegame Sims

I have another question about sharing Sims. I have all EP's and because of that, all traits are available to my Sims. What happens if I share a Sim that has a trait that was introduced with an EP? If someone has just the base game, but have it up to date with patches, will they have the later traits too or still just the base game traits?

I think the game replaces the traits or just removes them but I don't know.  I know that some traits came with patches and some had to come with expansions.

In my experience, it just removes them. Aside from having adults with only four or fewer traits, it doesn't mess up the game at all.

Oh OK thanks. Now I just have to work out where the different traits came in. It probably won't make a huge difference, but I wanted to know for sure. I might have to install just the base game on Twin1's computer to do some testing lol
